Abstract
This study assessed the quality of borehole water in Gwange and Maisandari wards, Maiduguri, Nigeria, focusing on physicochemical and ionic properties. Samples were analyzed for parameters including color, turbidity, pH, TDS, electrical conductivity (EC), total hardness, and fluoride. Results showed Gwange had lower TDS (80–84 mg/L) and EC (161–169 µS/cm) than Maisandari (TDS: 376–393 mg/L, EC: 612–787 µS/cm). Both wards had low total hardness (1.51–2.03 mg/L) and fluoride within WHO limits. Variations in water quality reflect differences in land use and borehole depth. Most parameters met standards, but risks from shallow boreholes require monitoring.
