Abstract
The outstanding qualities of iron oxide nanoparticles (IONPs) are their size, superparamagnetic, and potential for biocompatible coating. Because of these characteristics, IONPs have found utility in biotechnological and medical applications, including drug delivery, tissue repair, magnetic hyperthermia, cell separation and detection, and magnetic resonance imaging. The objective of current research is to reduce medication concentration, toxicity, and other adverse effects while increasing the efficacy of IONP-based therapy. The synthesis methods are highlighted, and this review presents the latest findings on drug delivery innovations employing IONPs-based systems and their antibacterial efficacy against diverse microorganisms. Furthermore, the toxicity of individual IONPs and those that comprise nano systems is covered.
