Camel production is a crucial livelihood activity for pastoralists and agro-pastoralists in the semi-arid regions of Nigeria. This study focuses on identifying and analyzing the constraints affecting camel production in Dambatta Local Government Area, Kano State. Using a structured questionnaire and in-depth interviews with 100 camel farmers, the study examined factors such as feed and water availability, health and veterinary challenges, market access, and government support. Results revealed that feed scarcity during dry seasons, limited access to veterinary services, poor infrastructure, and insufficient policy support are the major obstacles to effective camel production. Despite these challenges, most farmers showed willingness to adopt modern management practices if resources and training were provided. The study concludes that camel farming in Dambatta has significant potential for growth if systemic constraints are addressed through targeted interventions. Recommendations include government support for veterinary services, improved market linkages, and training programs aimed at enhancing productivity and sustainability of camel farming.
