Public Perception on the Impact of 5g Networks in Nigeria (a Study of Residents of Offa Local Government)

Abstract
The study is on public perception on the impact of 5G networks in Nigeria using Offa Local
Government as a case study. The study is of benefit in knowing the public perception of 5G
network in Nigeria and the mode of new age communication in regarding the deployment by the
Federal Government and its effect on the masses. How it serves as a public interest to the
audience towards knowing the benefit of using the new network and other negative behaviors as
there is freedom of expression by the public. The study was design with the following objectives:
To ascertain public perception of 5G network in Nigeria, to examine the impact and literacy
level of awareness on 5G network in Nigeria, also to understand the extent to which Federal
Government has been able to regulate5G network in Nigeria and to identify the challenges
hindering Federal Government on erection of 5G network in Nigeria. The research design that
was used for this project work is survey method. The population involve the Offa resident, a total
number of five hundred (500) questionnaires were distributed to the respondents; one hundred
and eight seven (187) for executives (SSCE), one hundred and fifty-nine (159) for senior
executives (OND/NCE), ninety-six (96) for manager and fifty-eight (58) for senior managers
(HND/B.sc). The findings of this study claim that, the impression observed from individuals
depict the introduction of 5G networks in Nigeria for enhancing social media outlet which serves
a medium of text share information interaction and send post images which the masses neglect
news information and concentrate on entertainment and sports without being aware of
occurrences in the society. This has therefore affected the way people think and perceive news
information. Also, Attitudes toward the federal government approaches to deployment of 5G
networks in Nigeria will be affected by others attitudes and the individual’s relationships with
those people over time, individuals will develop a sense of reality based on the information they
are exposed to and their attitude toward the information. Participants who’re exposed to news
through other people; whether through social media, telephone, or face-to-face interactions, did
not come up when we asked them to name their news sources rather it emerged when we asked
them to recall how they came to know specific news events. The study thereby concludes that,
government or organization needs the public critics comment or opinion in other to administer
development, in order to correct defectiveness of public issues. It gives every individual its
freedom to speech and expression being heard off. As occurrences in a country which aim at
development which is determined through opinion poll of the masses.
