Relationship Between Environmental Accounting and Sustainable Development of Oil and Gas Companies in Akwaibom, Nigeria.

Abstract
The study investigated environmental accounting and sustainable development of oil and gas companies in Akwaibom Nigeria. The study adopted correlational survey research design. The population for the study was 6 oil and gas companies operating in the Akwaibom region of Nigeria. The instruments for this study was secondary data. Data were analyzed in the statistical package for social sciences (SPSS) Version 22. The research questions were analyzed using mean and standard deviation and hypothesis were tested using simple bivariate regression analysis at a significance level of 0.5. The results of the findings where there is no significant relationship between waste management cost and ecological sustainable development of oil and gas companies in Akwaibom Nigeria. There is a strong significant relationship between pollution control cost and ecological sustainable development of oil and gas companies in Akwaibom Nigeria. Also there is strong significant relationship between pollution control cost and ecological sustainable development of oil and gas companies in Akwaibom Nigeria. Oil and gas companies should place premium value on strategies gesred towards reduction of their ecological sustainable development footprint by adhering to social responsibility of waste management. Oil and gas companies should maintain waste management measures as it economically increases it's performance. Also companies within the oil and gas should continue their pollution control expenses as it boosts ecological sustainable development.
