Abstract

This study investigates the influence of academic stress and study habits on the academic achievement of undergraduate students at Bayero University, Kano, Nigeria. A quantitative research design was adopted, employing a survey method to collect data from 300 undergraduate students across various faculties. Data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistical methods. Findings indicate that both academic stress and study habits significantly affect students' academic performance, with study habits showing a more substantial correlation with academic success. Students experiencing high levels of academic stress tend to perform poorly, whereas effective study habits contribute positively to their academic achievement. The study concludes that reducing academic stress and fostering positive study habits can enhance academic performance among undergraduates. Recommendations for improving academic support systems at Bayero University are provided.
