Effect of Non-Monetary Rewards on Employee Performance Among Academic Staff of Aminu Kano College of Islamic and Legal Studies Kano State Nigeria (aksils)

Abstract

Employee reward can either be financial or non-financial or both. What is important is that an employee is adequately compensated for his efforts and such practice actually induces him for greater performance. Consequently, this study examine the effect of non-monetary reward on employee performance among academic staff of AKCILS Kano State. Study made use of the descriptive survey to research, Questionnaire was employed to collect data. The study made use of the convenience sampling technique. thepopulation for this study were made up from Academic staff of Aminu Kano College of Islamic and Legal Studies Kano AKSILS., and the total number the staff consists of 456 Staff, a sample size of 205 was chosen to represent the entire population of the study. The data collected was analyse using correlation and multiple regression techniques through SPSS Version 24. The results showed that Salary, allowances and individual based performance pay has positive and significant effect on performance of staff in Aminu Kano College of Islamic and Legal Studies. On the basis of this findings it was recommended that there is need for the state government in Kano state to considered non-monetary reward on time this will go a long way to boost employee performance. The study recommends the need for state government to always ensure that they pay all allowances to its staff. This will boost performance and make them take extra duties.
