Abstract
The study covers the Impact of Radio Programme on the Level of Awareness and adoption of family planning messages among married women in Nigeria. A Study of married women, Offa Local Government, Kwara State, Nigeria. Four (4) objectives were set to achieve the purpose of the study. The study is base on the tenets of Diffusion of Innovation, Social Responsibility and uses and gratification theory. Survey research method was adopted for the study where questionnaire was used to collect data from 402 residents of married women in Offa. Probability sampling techniques was used because it gives all the married women in Offa equal chances of being selected. The findings revealed that media (radio) is an essential tool for creating more awareness in the society. About 70 percentages of the total respondents acknowledged to the fact that media (radio) is an essential tool for creating more awareness in the society and also media presents credible information about happenings issues beyond and locally. The recommendation of the study also revealed that Broadcast media/family planning programmers and other stakeholders including the government should find a way of skirting round the problem of the non-adoption of effective family planning methods and strategies among Nigerians. The radio and television programmes designed to achieve this objective must emphasize that family planning is by choice, not by chance.
