Abstract
The Islamic dress code for women, often symbolized by the hijab and modest clothing,
holds deep spiritual, cultural, and social significance for women in Islam. Rooted in the
teachings of the Qur'an and the Hadith, it reflects principles of modesty, morality, and
dignity that are central to Islamic belief. This paper explores the relevance of the dress code
in the modern context, examining its role in preserving cultural identity, fostering a sense
of self-respect, and promoting ethical conduct. The dress code is not merely a religious
obligation but a form of empowerment for many Muslim women, allowing them to
navigate societal expectations while staying true to their faith. The method used in this
research work is qualitative and literally research which involves the use of published
materials derived from existing literature on the subject matter such as: text books, and
journals articles. The study also addresses the challenges and misconceptions surrounding
Islamic attire, particularly in non-Muslim societies, where it is sometimes viewed as a
symbol of oppression rather than choice. By providing a comprehensive understanding of
the historical, religious, and contemporary importance of the dress code, this research
emphasizes its relevance in empowering women and enhancing their autonomy within
Islamic communities.
