Aluminum Oxide Nanoparticles on Papaya Seed for Effective Heavy Metal Decontamination in Effluent Water

ABSTRACT
This study investigates the potential of aluminum oxide/papaya seed adsorbent as an effective adsorbent for the removal of heavy metals from effluent water. To characterize and evaluate the performance of these nanoparticles, we employed three advanced analytical techniques: Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy (AAS), Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR), and Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM). AAS was used to quantify the metal ions removed from the effluent, providing insight into the efficiency of the adsorption process. FTIR analysis revealed the functional groups present on the plastic nanoparticles and their interactions with heavy metals, which are critical for understanding the adsorption mechanism. SEM provided detailed images of the nanoparticles' surface morphology and size.
