Abstract
With growing integration of AI in academic settings, it is essential to understand how students access, utilize, and perceive these technologies. The main objective of the study was to assess students' demographic profiles, patterns of AI tool usage, motivations for adoption, and perceptions of AI's influence on academic performance and cognitive skills. Employing a descriptive survey design, 95 respondents were selected using a simple random sampling method. Data were analyzed through frequency distributions and percentages to reveal usage trends and attitudes. Findings indicate that AI tools such as ChatGPT and Grammarly are widely adopted and frequently used, primarily to save time and facilitate easier access to learning resources. Most respondents reported perceived improvements in academic performance, creativity, and satisfaction. However, concerns emerged regarding over-reliance on AI, which could undermine independent critical thinking and problem-solving abilities. The study recommends that educational institutions implement strategies to foster responsible AI use, including digital literacy programs and clear guidelines, while encouraging a balance between technological assistance and traditional academic skills development.
