Abstract
This research examined the role of agricultural insurance companies in enhancing agricultural productivity in Ekiti South, Nigeria. The study assessed the level of farmers’ participation in agricultural insurance, the level of agricultural productivity, and the effect of insurance participation on productivity. Data were collected from 100 purposively sampled farmers and analyzed using descriptive statistics and regression techniques. Findings revealed a low level of agricultural insurance participation and a high level of productivity, though insurance participation showed an insignificant negative effect on productivity. The study concluded that agricultural insurance companies have not yet played a significant role in improving productivity in Ekiti South and recommended greater awareness, reduced premiums, and improved accessibility of insurance services to farmers.
