Harnessing the Potentials of Agbokim Waterfall as a Tourism Site in Etung L. G. a Cross River State

pria as a country is endowed with enormous tourist attraction across all the thirty-six states and Cross River State houses many of the tourism destinations in Nigeria. Unfortunately, this ist attraction particularly the Agbokim waterfall located in Etung Local Government Area of state have not been optimally harnessed. This study centred on harnessing the potentials of okim waterfall in Etung Local Government Area of Cross River State. The study adopted the ey research method. Four hundred copies of designed questionnaires were systematically ibuted among the target population which comprises of tourists, officials of the Cross River Tourism Bureau/ management of Agbokim waterfall and members of the community, and copies of the questionnaire were retrieved for analysis. The analysis was done using riptive statistics such as tables. The outcome of the analysis showed that the potentials of the him waterfall has not been fully harnessed. The reasons for this as revealed by the data analysis poor marketing strategy and infrequent marketing activities of the destination. Other nsions of the problem revealed by the study include lack of continuity in governance, lack of mitment on the part of the government in developing tourism sites, poor funding, among is. For this reason, the study showed that the tourists were not satisfied with the state of tourism ities and activities in the study area. It was however recommended that the state government ws her commitment towards tourism development, ensure adequate funding, eliminate the of associating certain projects with certain past administrations among others.
