Optimization of Health Data Analytics in Enhancing Quality of Health Care Delivery in University of Medical Science Teaching Hospital Ondo, Ondo State

Abstract
ABSTRACT
The main focus of this study was to assess the optimization of health data analytics in enhancing quality of healthcare delivery in University of Medical Science Teaching Hospital Ondo. And the specific objectives are to; examine the knowledge of health personnel on health data analytics in enhancing quality of healthcare delivery, determine the effects of health data analytics on patient care in healthcare delivery, identify the barriers to effective health data analytics healthcare delivery and investigate the opportunities for improving the utilization of health data analytics to enhance patient care at UNIMEDTH, Ondo.
The study adopted a descriptive survey design in which structured questionnaire were use for data collection. The target population was 841 staff of University of Medical Science Teaching Hospital that sampled 168 respondents using stratified random sampling. 168 questionnaires were administered and 150 questionnaires were retrieved and the response rate achieved was 89.3%. Data collected were analyzed using descriptive statistics such as frequency and simple percentages, mean and standard deviation with the aid of Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) version 23.0.
The study revealed that Health data analytics have a significant positive impact on patient care and healthcare systems, on improving patient outcomes and reducing medical errors. However, challenges like limited resources (84.0%), privacy concerns (99.3%), and data standardization issues (100%) hinder effective implementation. Despite barriers, opportunities exist to enhance diagnostic accuracy, optimize resource allocation (88.0%), improve patient safety through real-time monitoring (99.3%), address healthcare disparities (90.7%), identify cost-saving opportunities (100%), and optimize medication management (99.3%).
The study concluded that Health data analytics offer immense potential to revolutionize patient care and healthcare systems. Therefore, recommends that, the hospital management should invest in upgrading data infrastructure and resources to overcome limitations that hinder effective data analytics implementation. This includes addressing issues such as data volume, complexity, and accessibility.
