Abstract

This study, 'A Comparative Assessment of Police Self-acclaimed Image and Public -held image of Ikeja Police Community Relations.' The aimed was to access the alignment of Ikeja Police command self - acclaimed image and Public -held image in 2023. It is by comparing the command perception of it's community relations effort against same. In line with the objectives of this research, the study made used respectively of qualitative and quantitative methods; structured with questionnaire and interview guide were used respectively to collect data from 310 Ikeja resident and Ikeja police command public relation official. Likert scale analysis was applied to quantitative data, simple narrative analysis was used for qualitative data. The findings of the study showed that residents of Ikeja community show that the community relations effort of Ikeja police is positive and negative, but Ikeja police community relations committee effectively addresses community concerns. This study recommends that there should be effectiveness in reducing crimes and maintaining public safety. Building trust between the police and the community is crucial for effective crime prevention and resolution
