Abstract
The study assessed the sociodemographic factors and Life Orientation as predictors of Suicidal Ideation among Nigerian undergraduates with the objectives of determining the influence of sociodemographic factors on suicidal ideation among Nigerian undergraduates and examining the relationship between undergraduates' life orientation on suicidal ideation in in Nigeria. These were with the view to determine the relationship between the study variables and Suicidal Ideation.
The study adopted a descriptive research design. The study population consists of undergraduates in Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ogun state. Simple random sampling technique was adopted. The study sample was 387 respondents. Two standardised scales were used for the study, these include the revised Life Orientation Test (LOT-R) and Suicidal Ideation Questionaire Junior (SIQ-JR) alongside sociodemographic variables. The data were interpreted using descriptive statistics like frequency and percentage distribution table, while correlation and multiple regression were used to test the stated hypotheses.
