Teachers Perception of Entrepreneurship Education Curriculum and Its Implications for Implementation in Public Senior Secondary Schools in Obio Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State

Abstract
The research work examines teachers’ perception of entrepreneurship education curriculum and its implication; a case study of Obio Akpor Local Government Area, Rivers State. Three objectives and research questions were formulated to help guide the study. The theoretical reviews were anchored on two theories; Human capital theory and the constructivist theory. The study adopted a simple random sampling technique and a descriptive survey design. A sample size of one hundred and ninety-six (196) was selected from the population of the study, and the method of data analysis was the mean statistics. The instrument for data collection was a self-structured questionnaire; Teacher’s Perception of Entrepreneurship Educational Curriculum and its Implication in Senior Secondary Schools Questionnaire (TPEECIISSQ) designed by the researcher after a modified four points Likert scale, with a reliability index of 0.89, obtained using Pearson Product Moment Correlation (PPMC) statistics. The findings of the study shows that entrepreneurship curriculum needed for the needs of the 21st century workforce, the entrepreneurship curriculum focuses more on theoretical than practical, Entrepreneurship curriculum is more important than traditional subjects, the study also revealed that teachers lack the necessary knowledge, resources and equipment to teach entrepreneurship education, teachers are not being accountable for the Entrepreneurship education, based on the findings, the study recommends that Government should ensure that the Entrepreneurship curriculum in schools has what it takes to equip the students, the curriculum development should focus on the practicality of Entrepreneurship Education. Furthermore, teachers should receive adequate training and supervision should be carried out regularly, there should be collaboration with entrepreneurs to equip the students with real life experience. Suggestions for further studies were also made.
