Abstract
This study investigated the phytochemical composition of Adansonia digitata (Baobab) and Carica
papaya (Pawpaw) leaves extracts using chromatography analysis and evaluated their lethality
concentration on brine shrimp (Artemia salina). The chromatography analysis revealed the
presence of bioactive compounds with insecticidal properties in both extracts. The lethality
concentration (LC50) of Adansonia digitata extract was found to be lower than that of Carica
papaya extract, indicating that Baobab extract is more toxic to brine shrimp. The study's findings
suggest that Baobab and Pawpaw leaves extracts have potential as natural pest control agents
and provide a basis for further research into their development as sustainable and environmentally
friendly alternatives to synthetic pesticides.
