Abstract
This study examines the availability and the utilization of ICT tools in teaching and learning of Chemistry in senior secondary schools in Gwagwalada Area Council, FCT, Abuja. The target population for this study comprised of all the Chemistry students in senior secondary schools in Gwagwalada Area Council, FCT Abuja. The sample size for this study consists of one hundred and twenty-five (125) senior secondary school students who offer Chemistry in Gwagwalada Area Council, FCT Abuja. The research design for this study was descriptive survey. The instrument used for this study was questionnaire. The questionnaire is self-constructed and it was designed to find out the availability and utilization of ICT tools in teaching and learning of Chemistry in senior secondary schools in Gwagwalada Area Council. Twenty-two (22) items was designed for the questionnaire. In analyzing the bio-data, the data collected was presented in a tabular form and responses were calculated in percentage, frequency count and mean was used to analyze the data followed by detailed interpretation. The study therefore recommended among others that the Government in collaboration with school administration should provide adequate ICT tools and resources in senior secondary schools. Regular training programs should be organized for Chemistry teachers to enhance their knowledge in ICT tools, Schools should create programs and initiatives that foster students' interest and engagement with ICT tools for learning Chemistry.
