The Effectiveness of Management Training and Development Techniques for Business Educators in Colleges of Education in Anambra State

Abstract
ABSTRACT
The study examines Enhancing Business Education Graduates Employability through Entrepreneurship Education and Training in Colleges Of Education in Anambra State. The problem of the study was perceived as lack of certain employable qualities that enhance performance on the job among Nigerian graduates which may have contributed to the high rate of unemployment, under-employment and the raising poverty among the youths, because many of them lack the basic business and job skills. Descriptive survey research design was adopted for the study. The population of the study was three hundred and fifty and 200 were sampled using simple random sampling techniques. Structured questionnaire validated by three experts was used to collect data for the study. Data collected for the study was presented in tables and analysis made using mean. The findings revealed that Entrepreneurship Education and Training in Nigeria help in bringing out the innate potentials in man. Entrepreneurship Education and Training affect poverty reduction positively by empowering youths to be self-reliant which stimulates and increases productivity, reduces unemployment and poverty. Entrepreneurship Education and Training is veritable tool to fight poverty among youths. Furthermore, many factors militate against Entrepreneurship Education and Training in Nigeria, for poverty reduction. These factors include poor public perception of Entrepreneurship Education and Training, insufficient equipment for practical learning of Entrepreneurship and Training, inadequate qualified and experienced Entrepreneurship Education and Training staff. Strategies that could be use for promoting Entrepreneurship Education and Training in Nigeria include, legal framework that allows teaching of practical Entrepreneurship Education and Training skills, use of highly qualified and experienced personnel in teaching of Entrepreneurship Education and Training, establishment of co-operation structures with local companies for practical training of under-graduates, emphases on certificate and name of school attended for recruitment of workers. The study recommended for government improvement on the funding in the Business Education to increase access to quality and effective Business Education and Training for the ever growing youths, so as to reduce the burden of unemployment and poverty among the youths.KEY WORDS: Entrepreneurship Education, Entrepreneurship Training, Skill Acquisition, unemployment, poverty, Poverty Alleviation.
