Abstract
This research investigates the impact of simulated soil pH 7.0 on the proximate and elemental composition of Glycine max (soybeans) by examining soil amendments of agricultural lime (AL), organic manure (OM), and a combination of both (AL+OM). Physico-chemical parameters such as moisture content, electrical conductivity (EC), effective cation exchange capacity (ECEC), base saturation (BS), and organic matter (OM) were analyzed across different treatments. Soil amendment with organic manure (OM) led to enhanced moisture retention and improved ECEC compared to control (CTRL) and lime-amended (AL) soil. The combination of agricultural lime and organic manure (AL+OM) resulted in the highest levels of organic matter and base saturation, supporting better soil fertility. Mineral content analysis revealed significant differences in available phosphorus (AP), calcium (Ca), magnesium (Mg), and potassium (K) concentrations across treatments. Agricultural lime application increased the availability of calcium and phosphorus, while the combination treatment (AL+OM) demonstrated a balanced mineral profile with optimal nutrient availability. These amendments improved the nutritional composition of Glycine max, indicating that soil pH modification at 7.0, coupled with appropriate amendments, could enhance crop productivity and mineral uptake. These amendments not only enhanced growth, yield but impacted positively on proximate and elemental composition of soybeans.
