An Assessment on the Availability, Adequacy and Utilisation of Ict Facilities in Teaching Biology in Senior Secondary Schools of Ungogo Local Government Area of Kano State, Nigeria.

The study was aimed to assess the availability, adequacy and utilisation of ICT facilities in teaching Biology in senior secondary schools of Ungogo Local Government Area, Kano state, Nigeria. The study was conducted with the objectives among others to: assess the availability, adequacy and utilisation of ICT facilities in teaching biology in senior secondary schools of Ungogo Local Government of kano state. In line with the stated objectives, three research questions were formulated for the study. The study adopted the use of descriptive survey research design. Out of the total population of 26 senior secondary schools in Ungogo Local Government , only 11 schools offering Biology were selected. And 13 biology teachers from the schools were selected with two schools having two biology teachers each. A questionnaire titled ‘ICT facilities utilisation questionnaire (ICTFUQ)’ was administered for data collection. ‘A checklist on the availability and adequacy of ICT facilities (CAAICTF)’ was used to collect data by the researchers.Data gathered were analysed using frequency and percentage.The findings of thestudy revealed that most of the ICT facilities werenot available for teaching biology while those available were inadequate. Further analysis revealed that the few ICT facilities that were available were not utilised. Among the recommendations made was that the government /ministry of education should provide more ICT facilities to all the public secondary schools offering Biology in Ungogo Local Government Area of Kano state.
