Impact of Small and Medium Enterprises (sme) on Sustainable Economic Development in Oyo State

Abstract
The general objective of this study was to examine the role of SMEs development on economic development while other specific objectives were to examine the role of SMEs performance on poverty reduction and employment generation and also identified factors that hider the development of SMEs in Nigeria. The sampling technique used was proportional random sampling of Paris Bakery, Ibadan. In order to have a uniform sampling size, 20% of the total number of SMEs in Paris Bakery were sampled. And the sample was chosen using simple random sampling generated by Microsoft Excel application package. The main such of data for the study was primary data, which was collected with aid of a structured questionnaire. The research data was analysed by means of the Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS). The data analysis involved descriptive statistics, such as frequency mean and standard deviation while the hypotheses were tested using inferential statistics such as Multiple Regression Analysis (OLS) and Pearson Product Moment Correlation (PPMCC).
