Abstract
ABSTRACT
This study was carried out to evaluate the fertility status of soil in irrigated area of No-mans-land, Fagge local government area, Kano. The soil Samples were collected from four (4) different locations using stratified random sampling method, 12 soil samples were collected at the depth of (0-15cm) using soil Auger and core sampler, Standard laboratory methods were used to determine the physical and chemical properties of the soil samples. From the result obtained, sand has the highest content /percentage, the soil was therefore sandy, pH falls to neutral condition across the land uses of the study area, the organic carbon content was fairly consistent across the samples, exchangeable bases (Ca, Mg, Na, and K) varied across different points in the research area, showing moderate, low, and high levels, total nitrogen implies a level of uniformity in the nitrogen content within the analyzed samples, which could be crucial for applications requiring precise nitrogen levels. The soil fertility in the study area was predominantly categorized as low to medium based on its physico-chemical attributes. It was therefore recommended that both organic and inorganic fertilizers be applied properly and in adequate amounts to improve the soil's nutrient supply capacity.
