Knowledge of Clothing Care and Management Practices Among Workers in Ilorin South

Abstract
Clothing care and management practices is a subject matter which has been underestimated among individuals in the society today leading to improper handling and care of clothing items. This study investigated the clothing care and management practices among workers in Ilorin south. Six research objectives guided the study and three research hypotheses were formulated. The study employed a descriptive survey research design. The population of the study comprised of workers in Ilorin south, from which 200 respondents were selected through multistage sampling techniques. A validated questionnaire was used for the collection of data. The data obtained were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics. The major findings revealed that the respondents demonstrated a strong tendency to organize their clothing effectively (x̄ = 3.14). Income played a significant role in respondents' clothing purchases (x̄ = 3.30). Regarding awareness, most workers were aware of the techniques for maintaining fabric quality (x̄ = 3.38). The most notable issue was the frequent use of paid laundering services (x̄ = 2.66). The study identified that attendance at programs on clothing care and management was relatively low, as respondents disagreed with this statement (x̄ = 2.44).
