Availability of Human and Material Resources Inteaching Business Studies in Secondary Schools Inado Local Government Area in Ekiti State

Abstract
This study centered on the availability of human and material resources ill teaching Business Studies in Secondary Schools in Ado Local Government Area ill Ekiti state. Specifically, the study was designed to find out the status ofhuman and material resources in teaching Business Studies in Secondary Schools; Whether there are adequate number of human resources in teaching Business Studies in secondary schools in Ekiti state and Whether there are adequate number Of material resources in teaching Business Studies in secondary schools in Ekiti State and to explore the influence of human resources on the academic performance Of secondary school students in Ekiti State and to explore the influence of materialS resources on the academic performance of secondary school students in Ekiti State• The study adopted a descriptive research of a survey type and the population consisted 626 Business Studies teachers senior secondary schools in Ado Local Govemment; out of which a simple random technique was used to select 100 teachers from 14 senior secondary schools as the sample size. A closed ended questionnaire was used to gather the needed information and the compulsory validity and reliability of the instrument were done accordingly with 0.73 coefficient. Data generated from the respondents were analyzed using descriptive statistics of frequency counts and percentages. The findings revealed that Human and material resources are meant to aid academic performance of students. However, despite the enormous importance Of human and materials resources on academic performance of students, it appears most schools have limited or no instructional materials and even schools with limited instructional materials failed to use them effectively. In line with the findings of this study, it was concluded that adequate teachers, qualified teachers, white board and marker, Sound tape recorder flannel board, graphs and bulletin board were available in their respective schools; there is a significant relationship between government funding and availability of human and material resources in secondary schools in Ekiti State. It was therefore recommended that government should ensure the provision of adequate human and material resources, as they are essential for enhancing students' academic performance; Adequate funding should be prioritized by the government to facilitate the procurement of necessary material resources, thereby improving the instructional process in the classroom and Teachers should develop a positive attitude toward using instructional materials, as this will improve their proficiency and enhance students' learning experiences.
