Design and Implementation of an Improved and Extensible Embedded System Trainer

ABSTRACT

This project focuses on the design and implementation of an improved, extensible embedded system trainer tailored to meet the practical training needs in the University of Uyo Computer Engineering Laboratory. The trainer is designed to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and hands-on experience in embedded systems by offering a comprehensive, user-friendly platform. -It integrates key hardware components, including Arduino Uno ESP32 microcontroller rollers, and a Raspberry Pi 4 microprocessor, into a modular, extensible board that supports a broad range of interactive experiments. These experiments, which span from basic LED control to complex sensor integration and wireless communication, enable student to apply theoretical concepts in real-world scenarios. The inclusion of a built-in Raspberry Pi 4 microprocessor and an intuitive user interface allows for seamless programming and experimentation, removing the necessity for an external PC. The implementation results demonstrate the trainers effectiveness in enhancing students understanding of embedded system, while its flexible design a accommodates future technological advancements. This improved and extensible trainer is a valuable educational tool, ensuring students are well-prepared for challenges in the embedded system industry by bridging the gap between theory and practical application.
