An Appraisal of Communication Practices in the Construction Industry Within Imo State, Nigeria

Abstract
ABSTRACT
The construction industry serves as a critical pillar of economic development in Imo State, Nigeria, contributing significantly to infrastructure growth and employment opportunities. Effective communication among stakeholders within this sector plays an indispensable role in the successful execution of construction projects. However, the intricacies of communication practices within the Imo State construction industry have been underexplored. This study is aimed at examining and assessing the effectiveness of communication in the construction industry. The study used survey research design which obtained data from the respondent which include various contractors, quantity surveyors, architects, engineers, and builders in Imo State through the use of well-structured questionnaires. It identifies that lack of motivation causes ineffective communication most, limited resources had the most effect on communication barrier and making things clear has the highest impact on effective communication. This research concludes by offering practical recommendations for enhancing communication practices within the construction industry in Imo State. Cohesive teamwork can be used to avoid disputes, Effective communication channels should be laid down in the construction industry, Construction professionals must be thrust worthy and share a sense of responsibility. This study underscores the pivotal role of communication in the construction industry, shedding light on the areas where improvements are urgently needed. By addressing these challenges and advocating for best practices, stakeholders within the Imo State construction industry can strive towards more efficient project execution, reduced delays, and improved project outcomes
