Abstract
Water is essential for life, it is a transparent colorless and odourless liquid that covers a large part of the earth surface. Water is a common chemical substance that is vital to all known as a universal solvent for a wide range of chemical substances which consist of hydrogen and oxygen atoms. Chemically, it could be defined as a chemical substance with two atom of hydrogen and one atom of oxygen in each of its molecules; hence the molecular formula is H2O It is formed by the direct reaction of hydrogen with oxygen; 2H2 + 02 - >2H20
Water can be hard or soft, natural or modified, bottle or tap, carbonated or still.
The following recommendation are made for this report
•More research should be carried out on these samples to check the microbial effect.
•Borehole should be drilled in areas devoid of sewage system or soak away pits to avoid underground contamination of water.
•There should be agreement between industries and government on waste disposal and management.
•The people living in these areas should be enlightened on proper waste disposal to avoid contamination of water.
•Government of Nigeria should ensure that well or borehole owners carry out analysis on ground water before sitting the borehole.
•People should adopt the easiest method of water treatment which is called "boiling process" that is boiling of water above 100° c, then should be allowed to cool so as to increase the water portability and also to save
lives.
