Abstract
ABSTRACT
This study was aimed at the preparation of liquid soap from neem seed oil extract. The plant material was extracted with n-hexane using percolation method. The powdered neem seed gave 41.6% oil yield. The soap was made using 50cm3 of the neem seed oil against 10ml of 23.5% NaOH at a temperature of 100 0C for 70 minutes, the soap was found to be slightly soluble in water with pH of 7.63. The moisture and contents were found to be 15.35% and 26.5% respectively. The foam height of the prepared neem seed oil soap was found to be 14cm3. The soap prepared in this project work is an indication that neem seed oil is utilizable for soap making, and the soap can be safely used after minor modifications for commercial use, thus by the analysis and properties exhibited by the soap produced.
