Abstract
In this study, mosquito breeding sites were mapped spatially to show the existence of mosquito larvae at these sites in various localities. Anopheles mosquito abundance and distribution were investigated in relation to physiochemical factors. Standard protocols were used to determine physicochemical variables, such as pH, temperature, and dissolved oxygen. Samples from Adagbrassa and Arhagba were gathered and examined. The study found that there were notable differences in the types of water collection; puddles were primarily found in Adagbrassa and Arhagba, whereas tyre marks were also found in Arhagba. There is a distribution of Anopheles abundance in Arhagba and Adagbrassa, respectively. Anopheles abundances are distributed in both Adagbrassa and Arhagba, respectively. The existence of vegetation is important because it influences mosquito breeding. Arhagba has a varied range of vegetation types, whereas Adagbrassa only has emergent vegetation. Anopheles abundances are distributed in both Adagbrassa and Arhagba, respectively. The existence of vegetation is important because it influences mosquito breeding. Arhagba has a varied range of vegetation types, whereas Adagbrassa only has emergent vegetation. The correlation analysis between the physiochemical parameters and larval density: temperature and pH have moderate negative correlations with larval density, salinity and Dissolved Oxygen show very weak correlations with larval density, indicating little to no relationship. This study offers critical insights for focused interventions to reduce the risk of mosquito-borne diseases in Okpe Local Government area, Delta State.
