Abstract
ABSTRACT
a researches was conducted analyzes the prevalence of sheep pax in Senaor Dr Ali Modu Sheriff veterinary Hospital, Borno State from 2019 to 2023. A total of 4491 sheep were brought to the hospital for treatment and out of which 1 922%) was confirmed and diagnosed to be infected with sheep pox The highest prevalence rate was recoded in 2023 will u rate of 159 (38 416), followed by 2020 with a rate of 93 (22. 46%), followed by 2019 with u rate of 8$ (20.53'%) und 40 (9, 00%) in 2022 while the lowest rate was 2021 with only 37 (8 94Ph, Transmission occurs mainly by direct or indirect contact with infected animals. And cause high morbidity (75-100%o in endemic areas) md mortality (1-85%) Additionally, the mortality rate can approach lo0% in susceptible animals, Diagnosis luridly relies on clinical symptoms, confirmed by laboratory testing using reline PCR electron microscope: virus isolation. Serology, and histology Control and eradication of sheep pox virus (SPPI), depend on timely recognition of disease eruption, vector control and movement restriction From the observations made on reported and data used for this project sheep pox prevalent in the hospital was due to poor vaccination and luck of bio-security.
