The Effects of Methanolic Extract of Artocarpus Heterophyllus Leaves on Some Hematological Parameters Using Albino Wistar Rats

Artocarpus heterophyllus is traditionally used as herbal medicine against various ailments, due to its high healing significance; it has been used as antimicrobial,antifungal, antiinflammatory, anticarcinogenic and hypoglycemic agent in Ayurvedic medicine. This study was aimed at evaluating the effect of methanolic extract of Artocarpus heterophyllus leaves on some hematological parameters using Wistar rats as experimental model. Twenty (20) Wistar albino rats which weighs between 120g-150g were acquired from the animal house of the Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences, University of Port Harcourt. After we

Group 1 served as the negative control group and nothing was administered except animal feed and distilled water, Group 2 were administered 100mg/kg (Low dose) of the leaf extract, Group 3 were administered 200mg/kg (Medium dose) of the leaf extract and Group 4 were administered 400mg/kg (High dose) of the leaf extract for the period of 21 days.
