Effect of Teaching Aids on Student's Achievement in Basic Science in Junior Secondary School Akwanga Lga Nasarawa State

The aim of the study is to find out the effect of teaching aids on students' academic performance in basic science in Junior Secondary School in Akwanga Local Government Area of Nasarawa State. The researcher formulated research questions to direct the study after a review of relevant and related literature in chapter two. The investigator, in his design, adopted the descriptive survey design which studied samples of both large and small populations to discover the relative incidence. The population of study was JSS two students 2022/2023 session who were used for the random sampling technique. And information coded therein was analysed using the simple percentage. From the result obtained 84% of the respondents strongly agreed that teaching aids has effect on students academic performances 80% of the respondent equally agreed that teaching aids facilitates and enhances effective teaching and learning of the basic science. Some recommendations were made: the public should be aware of the uses of instructional materials which will aid in the understanding of Basic Science; Emphasis must be placed on instructional materials in order to innculate the spirit of learning. Basic Science and finally, government and non-governmental agencies should assist in the provision of instructional materials for effective teaching and learning of basic science in secondary schools.
