Abstract
ABSTRACT
Culture is the way of life of the people and it encompasses their values, rites ideas altitude and behaviour. This culture could, from time to time be influenced and caused to change by certain factors-one of which is the medium of the film. This project studied the film Yesterday see how the elements in could cause a change in culture. The methodology applied is textual analysis in which the film was thoroughly read as text and themes, issues and characters portrayed dissected to give the needed results. It was found at that the way that the characters and themes which are symbols in the movie are presented, engenders a change in attitudes and behaviour and hence change in the culture of the people. Consequently, the study recommends that archaic traditional practices carried out by the African societies should be stopped as they are detrimental the wellbeing of members of the community.
