Globalisation is a multifaceted phenomenon characterized by the interconnectedness of nations through cconomic, political, cultural, and technological exchanges. It signifies the Increased interdependence of countries and has profound implications for the concept of state sovereignty which refers to the authority of a state to govern itself without outside interference. This study examines the impact of globalization on Nigeria's state sovereignty from 2015 to 2023, focusing on trade liberalization and developments in intformation and communication technology (1C7).
The research employed ex-post tacto descriptive rescarch design. The study made use of secondary source of data collection. Secondary sources of data include second-hand intormation.
already documented by another person or institution. Hence, the study used journal articles. official publications, internet articles, news paper reports and books for the purpose of the study. The study adopted observation method of data collection. One of the most significant aspects of globalisation observed in Nigeria betwveen 2015 and 2023 is the liberalization of trade policies.
However, the study found that while the increased importation of goods helped to temporarily alleviate food insecurity in urban areas, it inadvertently undermined local farmers who struggled to compcte with subsidized foreign products. On the other hand the advancements in intformation
and communication techology have played a pivotal role in transtorming governance and
communication in Nigeria. The study highlighted that time 2015 onward. the proliferation of mobile technology and the intermet revolutionized the way intormation was disseminated and accessed, empowering citizens and cnhancing transparency in governance. ICT developments
allowed for more efficient information gathering and dissemination, which has influenced social accountability, However, the study noted that the power of ICT also posed challenges to state sovereignty, The case of accessing information led to increased scrutiny of government actions and policies, sometimes resulting in domestic instability as fiustrated citizens mobilized against perceived injustices. The study indicates that while trade liberalization has the potential to
improve access to resources and enhance food security temporarily, it threatens local industries and agricultural selfreliance. Similarly, advancements in ICT have empowered the citizenry and fostered accountability, yet have also complicated the state's ability to govern eflectively in the
face of increased scrutiny and external influences. The study recommends; strengthening local industries, enhancing agricultural self-sufficiency, investing in education and skills development. promoting digital inclusion and establishing global partnerships among others.
