Abstract
This research study aimed to find and identify a type of bacteria called Methicilin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus in raw goat milk that was infected with a condition called mastitis. The researchers collected thirty samples from different places and used standard methods to isolate the bacteria. They then studied the characteristics of the isolated bacteria using tests that look at their appearance and how they behave.
The results of the research showed that the highest number of bacteria, 4.2 x 103 CFU/ml, was found in the raw milk from goats with mastitis, while the lowest number, 1.1 x 103 CFU/ml, was found in milk from healthy goats. Among the different bacteria that were isolated, Staphylococcus aureus was the most common, making up 24% of the samples. The researchers found that the Staphylococcus aureus bacteria that were resistant to methicillin appeared yellow on certain types of agar, while the non-resistant ones appeared bluish on a different type of agar, confirming their resistance.
This research suggests that both methicillin-resistant and non-resistant Staphylococcus aureus bacteria are present in goats with mastitis. The study also found that tetracycline could be a good choice for treating mastitis caused by these bacteria.
