The research work examined cultism: a lethal threat in Nigeria tertiary institution with reference to Auchi Polytechnic, Auchi, Edo State. The influence of cults and cultism has also permeated the entire society; it has found its way into social groups and organizations, establishments and even religious Organizations. The main objective of this research is to assess the extent and prevalence of cultism in tertiary institutions and evaluate the academic and social consequences of cultism. This study adopted the survey research design.
Primary method of data collection was adopted. Data collected were analyzed using Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) statistical tools. The findings revealed cultism significantly influences the social fabric and safety within these institutions among respondents. It was concluded that the impact of cultism on the social fabric and safety of the tertiary institution .community is significant, highlighting the severe consequences that cultism inflicts on the overall well-being and security of these institutions. The study further recommend among others that government, NGO's and other relevant authority should raise awareness: educate students, staff, and parents about the dangers of cultism and provide support services for those at risk
