Abstract
ABSTRACT
Biogas production is a suitable and sustainable approach to considering the increasing global energy demand while managing organic matter and agricultural products. Fresh cow dung and sugar cane bagasse were used as the substrates. The proximate analysis of the substrates were determined using standard procedure. The anaerobic digester, gas stove and compressing machine were all constructed using the appropriate materials. The result of the proximate analysis of cow dung and sugar cane bagasse showed that the ash content ranges from (10-20%), crude protein (10 – 15 %), crude fat (20 – 30%) and organic matter (80 – 95%) while that of sugarcane bagasse shows the moisture content (45 – 50 %), ash content (45 – 50%), crude fat (40 – 50%), carbohydrate (12 – 18%). The temperature and pH of the substrate fluctuate (i.e the higher condition of the environment the higher the production and the lower) with the highest temperature which is (330C) and the lowest temperature which is (220C) while pH of the substrate ranges from the highest pH which is (7.9) and the lowest pH which is (6.7). the total amount of gas produce was 1410 (1.4kg) with the highest production at day (4, 7, 8) while the lowest production at day (2) with pH of (7.7).
