Impact of Human Resource Management in an Organisation

ABSTRACT

This paper focused on "Impact of human resource management in an organization (A study of Nigerian petroleum development company Benin City, Edo State). Research over the years, has established significantly a positive correlation between Human Resource management and organizations. The assumption underpinning the functions of human resource management is that people are the organizations key resource and organizational performance largely depends on them. The resource management functions and programmes of Nigerian Petroleum Development Company Benin City and establish the impact of properly managing human resource on the productivity of the company. A sample of one hundred and twenty (125) staff were selected using a random sampling technique. Three research questions were formulated in line with the objectives of the study, to achieve the aims of the study, data were collected from both primary and secondary sources. Data collected were analyzed by using simple percentage in analyzing the respondents opinion and the two hypotheses formulated were tested using chi-square method. The study's findings strongly support the pivotal role of Human Resource Management (HRM) in shaping organizational effectiveness and dynamics. The study concludes that the critical role of HRM in organizational effectiveness. It emphasizes that the success of any organization hinges on strategic human resource management. Neglecting this crucial asset can hinder growth and productivity. It was recommended that organizations should prioritize continuous training and development programs for HR professionals. This will ensure they stay updated with the latest trends and best practices in HRM, enabling them to effectively shape organizational dynamics.
