Factors Influencing the Students Choice of Accommodation Type in Alex Ekwueme Federal University Ndufu Alike Ikwo, Ebonyi State, Nigeria

ABSTRACT

This study investigated the approaches used by students to measure lecturers’ performance in AE-FUNAI, Ebonyi State, Nigeria. Participants were drawn from Alex Ekwueme Federal University Ndufu Alike. Participants were selected through a convenient sampling technique. A total of 387 consenting participants were selected for the study. The study adopts a cross-sectional survey design, and regression analysis was used to test the hypotheses. Findings showed the approaches adopted by the students in measuring lecturers’ performance in AE-FUNAI which indicates that 202 (54%) strongly agreed that students consider lecturers’ teaching style when evaluating their performance while 89 (23.7%) agreed, 41 (10.10%) strongly disagreed, 22 (5.8%) disagreed were as 20 (5.3%) were undecided.

The result on the extent which the measurements of lecturers’ performance has influenced students’ personal learning style in Alex Ekwueme Federal University Ndufu Alike Ikwo, shows that about 205 (55%) strongly agreed and 65 (17%) also agreed that student evaluation of a lecturer’s performance is influenced by their personal learning style, but 54 (14%) of the respondents strongly disagreed and 44 (12%) disagreed, 6 (2%) were undecided. Also, 220 (58.8%) strongly agreed and 50 (13.4%) agreed that students’ expectation from a lecture varies depending on the course and subject matter. While 30 (8%) strongly disagree and 20 (5.3%) disagree 54 (14.4%) respondent were undecided. On the other hand, 210 (56.1%) strongly agreed with 60 (16%) agreed that prioritizing different aspects of a lecturer’s performance based on individual needs helps the students while about 30 (8%) strongly disagreed with 20 (5.4%) disagreed against this 54 (14.4%) were undecided.

On the basis that students consider individual needs and goals when measuring lecturer’s performance, 200 (53.4%) strongly agreed with 78 (20.9%) agreed while 24 (6.4%) strongly disagreed and 18 (4.8%) disagree only 54 (14.4%) was undecided. Lastly, about 200 (53.4%) strongly agreed with 90 (24%) agreed that students’ evaluation of a lecturer’s performance is affected by their prior experiences with similar courses. However, 33 (9%) strongly disagreed and 16 (4.2%) disagreed 35 (9.4%) were undecided. If lack of consistency of lecturers’ performance affects the quality of education and the well-being of students in AE-FUNAI 195 (52.1%) strongly agreed and 65 (17.4%) agreed that inconsistent lecturers’ performance negatively impact student learning experience while 45 (12%) strongly disagreed 19 (5%) disagreed to it 50 (13.4%) were undecided. Again, 211 (56.4%) strongly agreed and 70 (18.7%) agreed that lecturers’ inconsistent performance affects students’ motivation to attend class but 23 (6.1%) strongly disagreed and 20 (5%) disagreed while 50 (13.4%) were undecided.
