Role of the Media in Conflict Resolution in Plateau State

Abstract
ABSTRACT
This study explores the role of media in conflict resolution in Plateau State, Nigeria, focusing on how media influences public perception, facilitates peacebuilding, engages key stakeholders, and contributes to reducing violence. Utilizing a quantitative research approach, data were gathered from 372 respondents through a structured questionnaire. The findings indicate that the media plays a significant and positive role in shaping community attitudes, promoting dialogue, and supporting non-violent approaches to conflict resolution. The study concludes that effective and responsible media engagement can enhance peace efforts, and it recommends improved collaboration between media outlets, government agencies, and local communities to sustain long-term peace in conflict-prone areas.
