Influence of Social Chat Sites on Academic Self-Efficacy as Expressed by Undergraduates of Adeyemi Federal University of Education Ondo

Abstract
ABSTRACT
The study investigated the influence of social chat sites on academic self-efficacy as expressed by undergraduates of Adeyemi College of Education, Ondo. The design of the study is a survey research involving three research questions that guided the study. The population of the study is made up of all students in Adeyemi College of Education, Ondo. The sample for the study is made up of 150 students which were drawn using simple random sampling technique due to the large population size. Instrument for data collection is the structured questionnaire. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics (mean) with the view of finding out the Influence of social chat site on Academic self-efficacy. While T-test statistics was also used to test the hypotheses postulated at 0.05 level of significance. It was observed that social chat sites affects students’ academic performance to a very high extent; social chat sites affect students study time to a high extent; and social chat affects students learning behaviors to a very high extent. It was recommended among others things that students should make use of social chat sites for academic purposes.
