Abstract
This study is to determine the elemental composition (proximate analysis and mineral composition) of some dry fishes sold in Lagos metropolis. The results of the proximate and mineral compositions of the fish species revealed that the highest moisture content (17.140±0.014) in A. anguilla and the lowest (12.771±0.004) in P. quadrafilis. The highest ash content (6.429±0.287) in A. anguilla and the lowest (4.841±0.003) was found in Pangasius pangasius. The highest lipid content (7.613±0.003) was recorded in E. fimbriata and the lowest content (4.319±0.004) in S. solea. There also exists significant difference in moisture, ash and lipid contents found in all the fish samples (p Na > Mg > Fe > Cu > Mn.
