Analysis of Sanitation Practices in Male and Female Hostels of Usmanu Danfodiyo University Sokoto

Abstract

The study investigated the analysis of sanitation practices in male and female hostels of
usmanu danfodiyo university,sokoto state.A sample of 100 students were chosen by simple
random sampling.The research instrument was a structured four-point likert type
questionnaire.Responses were analyzed using SPSS.Results showed that students felt that the
sanitary condition of their hostels was poor.Factors perceived to promote good sanitation
practices were identified as:the school management should ensure ways of improving
sanitation within the institution,the government at all levels should provide funds
needed,regular monitoring of cleaners that are in charge of cleaning the school
environment.Results also showed that 40% agreed that poor sanitation leads to spread of
infectious diseases.However the need for a collaborative approch is important,where both
students and management work together to improve hostel sanitation,ensuring healthier living
conditions and a more conducive
