Influence of Social Media on Secretaries Productivity in Higher Institutions (case Study of Federal University of Health Science Ila Oragun, Osun State)

Abstract
This research work focused on Influence of Social Media on secretaries' productivity in higher Institutions (Case study of Federal University of Health Science in Ila Orangun, Osun State). The population of the study comprised forty-six (46) confidential secretaries. Four research questions guided the study (1)To what extent does whatsapp influence secretaries productivity in higher institutions? (2) To what extent does email influence secretaries productivity in higher institutions? (3) To what extent does twitter influence secretaries productivity in higher institutions? (4) To what extent does facebook influence secretaries productivity in higher institutions? The research instrument used was a structuredquestionnaire. The findings revealed that whatsapp enhances the productivity of secretaries particularly with respect of office
management. Data were analyzed using simple mean method. Thefindings ofthe study revealed that email has positively helped in improving secretary productivity in managing office. It was
discovered that twitter has positive influence on office management. It was revealed that facebook enhances the productivity of secretaries in office management in higher institution. It was concluded that social media has greatly influenced the productivity of secretaries in performing their duties particularly in terms of effectiveness and quick dissemination of information and it has paved way for belter communication and interaction among the secretaries and bosses. The study recommends that secretaries should always imbibe the spirit of professionalism when using social media, and avoid discussing official issues on personal social site.
