Abstract

ABSTRACT
This research is entitled "The effect of corporate governance on financial
performance of listed firms; A case study of commercial banks in Asaba, Delta
State”. The Objective is to Examine the effect of board Size on financial
performance on Selected bank in Asaba Delta State. The research question is
based on what extent those board size affects financial performance of banks in
Nigeria? The researcher employed primary and secondary source of data
collection. During the course of the study, the researcher administered a total
number of eighty questionnaires to the respondents. Data were analysed using
tables and sample Percentage calculation. The hypothesis formulated in chapter
one was tested using chi-Square (x2). The Study found out that corporate
governance plays crucial role in firm financial performance. It was concluded
that corporate governance helps to promote culture in which directors will give
privacy to the ethical pursuit of shareholders. It was recommended that effort
should be made to improve corporate governance on the value of stock ownership
of board members since it is positively related to both failure operation
performance and to the probability of disciplinary management
