Infleunce of Resource Materials and Learning of Biology in Senior Secondary Schools in Onitsha Education Zone

Abstract
The study aimed at examining the Influence of Resource Materials and Learning of Biology in Senior Secondary Schools in Onitsha Education Zone. A well designed and simple questionnaire was distributed to biology teachers in these selected schools to accurately evaluate the Influence of resource materials on the application of learning biology in secondary schools in Nigeria. Concerning methodology used for the study, the researcher adopted the Quasi-experimental research design. The population for the study is five thousand three hundred and twenty (53200 SS 3 students with a sample size of twenty (20) teachers and hundred (100) students selected using a stratified sampling technique. Both primary and secondary data was used for the study. Questionnaires formed the basis for primary data for the study, while textbooks, internet, journals and magazines were the secondary source of data for the study. The findings indicates that there will be a significant positive difference in the performance of secondary school students in Biology when they are taught the subject with resource materials. The use of resource materials in the teaching and learning of Biology obviously improves the performance of students. Schools should provide enough resource materials to enable teachers clarify their lesson. Adequate infrastructure facilities and conclusive atmosphere are Sine Qua Non for effective learning and retention of what is learnt. Schools should send their Biology teachers to seminars and workshops in order to update their knowledge.
