Abstract
The study focused on the impact of state owned broadcasting media on voters mobilization during 2023 general elections in Nigeria. State-owned broadcasting media in Nigeria have played a pivotal role in shaping public opinion and mobilizing voters, especially during the 2023 general elections. These media platforms, controlled by federal and state governments, serve as significant tools for political communication, campaign dissemination, and election-related information. The study was anchored on Agenda-Setting Theory and Framing Theory. The method of investigation used for this study was survey research method. Systematic sampling technique was used to select one hundred and ten (110) respondents from the total population. Findings revealed that OGTV’s overall influence on voter mobilization was limited due to issues such as perceived bias, inadequate voter education for first-time voters, lack of political debates, and insufficient coverage of critical election-related concerns like security and irregularities. These shortcomings potentially hindered the station’s ability to fully mobilize voters and reduce voter apathy. Thus, the study recommended that state owned broadcast media should strive to offer equal airtime to all political parties and candidates to build trust and credibility among voters.
