Business Education Students Entrepreneurship Skills Acquisition and the Attainment of Sustainable Development

Abstract
This study investigated business education students’ entrepreneurship skills acquisition and the attainment of sustainable development. The study was guided by four research questions. The geographical scope of the study is limited to Ambrose Alli University Business Education students across the public tertiary institutions in Edo State while the content coverage of the study covers customer service skills, financial skills, time management skills and business management skills. This study was anchored on The Human Capital theory by Schultz (1961) and the study used the descriptive research design. The population of the study was made up of all the Sixty-Five (65) 400 level Office Technology and Management and also the Seventy-Five (75) 400 level Accounting Education students in the Department of Business Education. This gave a total population of One Hundred and Forty (140) 400 level students in the department of Department of Business Education, Faculty of Education, Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, Edo State. The entire population of One Hundred and Forty (140) students in 400 level in the Department of Business Education (Accounting Education and Office Technology Management) was used. Since the entire population of students was used, sampling was no longer necessary. The instrument that was used for data collection for this research is a questionnaire titled: Business Education Students’ Entrepreneurship Skills Acquisition and Attainment of Sustainable Development Questionnaire (BESESAAS). The data collected were analyzed using the degree of mean and standard deviations. The study revealed that customer service skills influenced the attainment of sustainable development among business education students in Edo State, financial skills influenced the attainment of sustainable development among business education students in Edo State, time management skills influenced attainment of sustainable development among business education students in Edo State and business management skills influence the attainment of sustainable development among business education students in Edo State. Based on the findings, it was recommended among others that the management of the department of business education should design course content that will provide students with knowledge of customer service skills, as this will increase their employability.
